About Kelvin Kam

Tell me about your journey to real estate.

In 2002, a few months before I was married, I realized I needed to find a profession that allowed for a flexible work schedule.  I attended a real estate investment seminar and within a couple of years, purchased close to 50 properties in 5 different states.  During the real estate crash, I assisted clients with acquiring properties at the foreclosure auctions and managed the renovations for them.  Currently, I’m involved in multiple development projects ranging from interior remodels, garage additions, building expansions, new construction for single family, condos and mixed used buildings.  

As I was growing my business, I saw an opportunity to create a real estate company that could set a new standard in the industry.  I identified the needs of an agent and understood the support a client expects and made that the mission of our company.  At Sequoia, we provide a full support team for our agents to assist with their many tasks but more importantly, to ensure our clients’ needs are always met.  We also have an extensive marketing plan, which includes complimentary design and staging services to maximize the sales price for our sellers.

Real estate has become a big part of my life and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.  There will always be challenges, opportunities to grow, and ways to be more innovative.  But since I am blessed with the support from my family, friends, colleagues and clients, I have the energy and confidence to continually strive to find new ways to assist my agents with their business and to ultimately provide the best service possible to our clients.

What are three words your clients would use to describe you?

Passionate - I eat, sleep, breathe real estate.  When I have a goal, I will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Responsive - I understand the importance of communication and will respond to all emails/phone calls immediately, even if it’s at midnight.

Dependable - You can count on me to answer your questions, get things done, and support you when you are in need.

What most excites you about your work?

I’m excited about the opportunity to help my clients, associates, friends, and family reach financial freedom through working or investing in real estate.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?

The challenge with running your own business is that you are always working.  Fortunately, I love what I do, so it doesn’t feel like work.  When I’m able to step away from my work for a bit, I usually spend that time with my family.

What would be impossible for you to give up?

I can never give up the personal connections I make with my clients.  Some may argue that it’s better to keep your business life separate from your personal.  However, if my clients are open to it, I prefer getting to know them at a deeper level as the working relationship will be more enjoyable than just a business transaction.

What would you say to a 5-year-old child if he or she asked you what the purpose of life is?

The purpose of life is to do what you can to make the world a better place.

What magical power would you want to have?

The ability to eliminate any disability a person may have.  I believe each person should have an equal opportunity to life and what it has to offer.

When my eldest son was born, I tried taking care of him as a stay-at-home dad. I had no idea how difficult it was, and realized very quickly that this was the most challenging job I have ever had. Thanks to this experience, I’ve become a little more patient, which has helped me tremendously in my real estate profession.

In 2002, I began my real estate career as an investor. As a client, I always wanted to be informed and kept up-to-date on the details of the transaction. When I had questions, I wanted to talk to someone live or feel confident that I’d get a call back when I left a voicemail. However, after working with many professionals in this industry, I’ve realized many of them lack the one trait I valued most: responsiveness.

I have committed myself to providing my clients the type of service I’ve always wanted. I focus on exceptional customer service by providing my clients ease of mind and total accountability. My clients know that I’ll be available whenever they need me. And if they leave me a message, I’ll call back within the hour.

Real estate is my passion, and I’ve become a realtor to set a new standard for the industry. I know people will appreciate my responsiveness and accessibility.
